My first hit

Thursday, October, 23, 2008

I’m sorry I haven’t been blogging lately but I have a good excuse. I was hit by a car. No really I was. (Click here to read all about it.)

This has put quite a damper on my plans to do one new thing each day of fall. Sure, the day of my accident I racked up plenty of fall firsts – get hit by a car, ride in an ambulance, be rolled around on a gurney. But my doctor doesn’t want me doing any high impact exercising for a while (my neck and back were kinda jacked up for a couple of weeks), and since many of the items on my list of fall firsts were dance classes, boot camp classes, etc., I need to regroup.

So far it’s been a fun fall, you know, other than that whole getting hit by a car thing. Here’s a sample of some of my adventures:

Model for a magazine. It was a local mag, but I still worked it. :)

Be on FM radio. Representing the arts and entertainment publication I work for I was on two morning radio shows talking about features in that week’s issue.

Try a new belly dance class. I’ve taken belly dance several times before but there’s a woman in Louisville who everyone hails as one of the best. And they were right. I took the class and loved it.

Try Zumba. It’s a Latin dance-based cardio class that I loved so much I thought about trying to get certified to teach it myself.

Buy some new pieces of art. I got some graffiti art and some cool photos at a local arts and crafts fair.

I also got hooked on a new TV show. Anyone else in love with Vampire Bill from True Blood?

I hope my list gave you some inspiration for some fall firsts of your own. But now I need your help. I need some ideas to replace my days of dance I had planned. Can you help a sistah out?

...that you got in a car accident and glad that you're alright! This line: "...I learned to never doubt the awesomeness of my ass again." - you should have sketched on a t-shirt and sold online. : ) So there's one alternative for the dance classes - start a biz selling those shirts with that wonderful line. Can you speak a foreign language? How about a foreign language course? Sewing class? (It's fun, I made a lopsided bag). Write a book...about the awesomeness of your ass and then some. Jewelry making? Heard it's relaxing. Keep us posted on what your new first will be!

Ha! NV, I love that t-shirt idea. And maybe I should take a sewing class and learn to make bags so I can stop buying so many.Check out my new site www.GeorgiaMae.com
