Today I interviewed Marylouise Fitzgibbons, who is our new favorite skirt! girl. She’s our new fave skirt! girl not just because she’s the youngest female GM for W Hotels. Or because she rolls around the new Buckhead W site on Peachtree in a hardhat with rhinestones on it, as her new place of business is literally being built around her. But because she had a working disco ball put in on her ceiling that allows for Gloria Gaynor moments during stressful days on the job. We think that rocks!
(Here is a photo of me getting to wear that VIP hard hat with rhinestones, from L to R: Janet Rothenberg of skirt!, Marylouise, me and Kelly Spikes of W Hotels.)
We photographed and interviewed Marylouise today for our January issue. She’s frickin’ amazing. A mother of twin boys, she started out at the counter of Starwood Hotels and worked her way to the top. To read more about her, stay tuned for our January issue.
But Marylouis is just one of the fascinating, successful, spirited and fun-loving women I get to interview every day. Yesterday I had a chance to interview the #1 nationally ranked Jr. tennis player in the country. This morning I interviewed a cervix cancer survivor and this afternoon a woman who’s dad was a ditch digger and she was the first woman in her family to go to college. She eventually went on to get her masters from UNC Chapel Hill. Talk about pulling yourself up by the bootstraps!
All day long these women inspire me with their stories. My job at skirt! is to turn around and tell you, my readers, those inspirational stories. So, why don’t you hit me back.
Who inspired you today?
