makeover to make a difference

Friday, October, 10, 2008

last night was media night at stella nova’s makeover to make a difference where all of us beauty junkie writer monkeys could check out stella nova’s set up and get the delish treatment that regular folks would be getting today and tomorrow.

in fact, i had such an amazing time chatting with the makeup artists and the stella nova beauties themselves, that katie, sabrina and i went back this afternoon to give everyone else a sneak peek via video! (pending some editing magic...)

[UPDATE: view katie’s makeover here and mine here.]

first we got katie, our office manager, to sit for a bare minerals makeover. woo! katie already loves bare minerals so i think she really enjoyed sitting and learning more about the line, plus she found a new blush and got some sweet application tips.

next, i ran into my new bff jocelyn who was doing makeup for paul & joe. i asked her to just do a little touch up for my eyes for fun, like i was going out. very fancy, she did a sort of metallic smoky eye. the weird/interesting/cool thing was that she played with my eyebrows to frame my eyes better – i think eyebrows are something that light-eyebrowed women forget about because we’re so used to seeing our thin/short/light eyebrows day to day.

so anyway, jocelyn did a few things to them – lengthening, filling in, shading and highlighting to make my eyes freaking pop off my face. very cool. i may not do them like this every day, but it’s a nice reminder of how a stranger can look at your face differently (than you do) and can and give you one great insight that changes your look.

so, normally, my light brows look like this:

this afternoon, they look like this:

and even though this picture is uhh, low quality camera phone style, i promise they aren’t all drawn on ala 1930. they are very blendy and natural. plus, i was told i already have good arches. i rock.

thanks jocelyn for the new brow look, and lipstick/gloss combo, and concealer tricks, and horoscope/eyeshadow consultation... and, and, and... i might be back again tomorrow :)
