What made Wonder Woman so wonderful?
Was it her cylindrical breasts….that was pretty impressive?
Was it her bizarrely narrow waist juxtapose those crazy child bearing hips?
Was it her perfectly coiffed mane, that never, and I mean NEVER seemed to get a hair out of its aqua netted place?
Was it the provocative outfit that seemed more appropriated for a stripper or water ballet that apparently was also JUST RIGHT for fighting crime?
Was it her legs that when on as long as Smiths in the phone book….in Utah?
Was she so super because she was a larger than life representation of the strengths of the everyday woman?
No, the everyday women could kick her measly, boney behind, while filing her nails and filing the bank statement, feeding the children, all the while telling dear hubby he is such great man and provider and she just could never, ever make it without him. Wonder Woman, was woefully under matched for the everyday women.
I do believe in wonder women, however. I believe I am surrounded by them every day. Wonderful in their ability to bit their tongue until it bleeds when necessary and use it for an ever appropriate lashing also when necessary. Wonderful in their ability to be, the home makers, and love makers, and breadwinners, and breadline servers, and single parents, and debaters and cocktail servers and martini drinkers. Wonderful at their ability to simultaneously cry and show strength, rage and delight, and be caddy and polite (particularly in the south! ). Wonderful in their ability to bring home the bacon, parent the children, clean the house, balance the checkbook and mow the grass and still have ample time to paint her nails and home wax her lips. These wonders take care of the boardroom and the bedroom and their children and their parents. They cook, and clean and mend and bend, and mold and shape and coddle and coo.
Yes, I believe in Wonder Woman, but you won’t find her in a push a bra and boots. You find her in your supermarkets, churches, carpool lines, on her knees and prayer, or with wine glass up in praise. She is everywhere. And the world could not make it without her.
To every Wonder Woman I know. You are the strength of the world. Thank you!
Now, if you don't mind, I'm going to go loosen up this damn corset and slip into my pajama pants before I make dinner and finish up homework!
