According to a recent Pew Research Center study, women make most of the decisions when it comes to planning weekend activities, household finances, major home purchases and TV watching.
"Across all decision-making realms, it tilts to the woman," says Rich Morin, lead author of the study. "I was surprised by the percentage of men who made none of the decisions in any of the areas. A significant percentage were just bystanders."
Um, I’m going to go ahead and say it: Only a man would be surprised by that.
The societal “norm” of a the man being the “head of the house” is so ancient, it went out of style with white gloves and pointy bras. Most of my women friends are the “deciders” in their homes, even if their husbands/significant others do share in the housework and other chores. I’m also thinking this has probably always been the case, even in the June Cleaver era...those women were just letting their guys THINK they were in charge.
Nowadays, we can all admit it: Women rule the roost. Though when it comes to TV, my husband and I settle remote control disputes by arm-wrestling.
What about you? Are you the Decider at your house?

I agree. Women are sooo smart. We come up with all of the brilliant ideas and later on our men assume it was their brilliance. There is indeed a method to our madness. I will plant the seed in my husband's head...let it grow...and then POOF...but I do tell him, "You do know that was my idea, right?"
