I AM the liberal media

If I hear one more friend, family member or guy in the supermarket checkout line say “It’s the liberal media’s fault!” as an excuse for anything, I swear to God...

Lest we forget, it’s the liberal media that discovered and uncovered Watergate and Abu Ghraib. It’s the liberal media who blew the lid off what was really happening in New Orleans during Katrina. It’s the liberal media who has long been friends and interviewers of John McCain and tauted him as an honest, great man. It’s also the liberal media who picked up the Swift Boat story and ran with it. It’s the liberal media who introduced Monica Lewinsky and a certain blue dress to the public. It’s the liberal media who has always been on both sides of  a story. It’s the liberal media whose job it is to report the news and tell the truth.

If you don’t like hearing the truth or the news, that’s a whole ‘nother story. But don’t blame the messenger.

One of the things I love about our country is our 1st Ammendment. Freedom of speech, yes, but more importantly the freedom of the press. Without this important (and first) constitutional right where would we all be? Living in the dark and having a government regurgitate for us what “they” want us to hear in the press. Ever been to China or Korea anyone? It ain’t pretty.

So before you go biting the hand that feeds you, remember that unless you’re reading the OpEd page, most of the news reporters and journalists out there are unbiasly reporting what they see and dig up.

If you don’t like what you’re hearing, then stop gobbling it up all day long. Read a book. Preferably “What Liberal Media?: Bias and the News” by Eric Alterman.
