Okay I confess! I *hate* this part. Whether it's for MySpace or Tribe or worse- a job interview, the open-ended request to talk about myself is painful - like a needle to the eye. Or like a 103 foot drop on a roller coaster. My advice: Read my blogs! You'll get to know me that way...eventually....

Are you a woman for Palin?
Some things to think about
Friday, September, 12, 2008
I'm flabbergasted by the women who supposedly are changing their vote to McCain because of Palin. The statistic that bothers me most is "20% of white women." Well, no one polled me.
If I were on the fence, Palin would be the deciding factor for me to vote
for Obama
instead of McCain.
Why? Barry Yeoman of the Independent Weekly in Triangle area of North Carolina says it most succinctly:
"...She favors oil drilling both off the Alaska coast and in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. She sued the federal government to remove the polar bear from the endangered species list. She opposes all non-lifesaving abortions, even for women who have been raped. She's against the type of sex education that might have kept her 17-year-old daughter unpregnant. She doesn't believe global warming is a manmade problem."
Think about the power that Palin would have to make policy based upon these beliefs.
Then consider her position on global warming. Sarah Palin doesn't believe that humans have had anything to do with it. She would have us ignore global warming all together.
I suppose humans didn't have to do anything with the hole in the ozone layer either. But it's a good thing we fixed it.
Think before you mark the McCain/Palin box. Really think.
That's all I'm asking. Think. Meditate. Commune with your deepest self.
So here's a question I keep having with people around me to the point where they put on their headphones...would we really be having insane discussions if the Republicans had Condoleezza Rice as their vp candidate? (Not that I agree with any of her positions on the issues I care about either but at least she can construct a comprehensive sentence about International affairs without changing the subject.) It's almost like real issues - the war, the economy, healthcare, education, abortion, women's rights/pay, yadda, yadda, yadda AND her positions on these issues (or lack thereof) have been completely overshadowed by the fact she can shoot a moose, sell a plane on ebay (which never really happened) wear lipstick and breast feed during conference calls. I don't care if she can bake cookies while holding a press conference and drilling for new found oil. I care about issues that she either doesn't understand or is completely at the opposite end of the opinion spectrum to what I believe. What's scary to me is that it seems the Republicans have "stumbled" into something where all women, liberal, conservative, moderate, etc... have been called out. We've been called out and our womanhood - and what that means - has become the debate. K - I'm done now. :)
