How Does Your Garden Grow?

“Happiness is to hold flowers in both hands.” --Japanese Proverb

[The following entry was inspired by a Sunday afternoon at the “flower farm” in Cook Springs, Alabama, propelled by one round-trip ride in my truck: the Danger Ranger, 3 friends, and good conversation.]

The pickins were rather slim in the garden yesterday. The website that led us there boasted a full-fledged flower farm. In reality, it was a glorified yard. We did, however, manage to gather enough to compose three substantial bouquets, including:

-Zinnias, which according to a flower dictionary, denote thoughts of absent friends
-Sunflowers, symbolizing devotion
-Gerbera daisies, signifying innocence and purity

Here’s some more flowery language:
-Gardenias mean “I love you in secret.”
-Red Jasmine says folly and glee
-Pansies emanate thoughtful recollection
-Peach roses communicate “’let’s get together” (yeah, yeah, yeah)
-Viscarias ask, “Will you dance with me?”

If you picked a meaningful bunch of flowers today, what would yours say?

I would pick fire-orange poppies--they'd say "I hope you like me, cuz you'll see lots of the same in heaven." :)
