Just five short days ago, I stopped off on a country road to take the above picture. The scene emanated peaceful tranquility. It was singing a quiet song of gentle invitation into soft, easy, breathing. I accepted its invitation and enjoyed a weekend full of slow hammocking and lake swimming.
I’ve been back for just three short days and I’ve already forgotten how to operate at mountain pace. I’ve been back just over 72 hours and I’ve already regained my headless running chicken speed. At times, I wish I could just re-locate to the countryside, where life is more thoughtful, less demanding. But more than that, I desire to discover how to carry “inner slowness” with me into the city, into the home and into the workplace.
In an attempt to learn how, I’ve posted this picture as my desktop background. In the midst of my crazy emailing-like-a-fiend busy days, may I remember to sit back and remember that peace is worth cultivating wherever I am.

That is soooo pretty. Your photography is wonderful. Aren't we lucky to live in such a beautiful place?? "Trust Life's unfolding..."

How difficult it is to reclaim that peace when phones are ringing, faxes are buzzing, emails are pinging...
Thanks for the reminder.
A little exercise I (don't) do (enough) is finding a quiet place, sitting with my hands turned down, letting go of the stress, the worries, the anxieties...giving them up to God.
Then turning them over to accept His love, His joy, His peace like a river...
