About Me: After living 7 places in the last 8 years, I'm settling into the Bay Area. I've traveled on four continents, lived at a Buddhist monastery, and performed trapeze acts in front of live audiences. I also enjoy cooking, knitting, reading, and using crayons.
Favorite Music: Sonic Youth, Sleater-Kinney, PJ Harvey, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Lupe Fiasco, Beirut, Blue Scholars, the Mars Volta, Fugazi, Radiohead, Kathleen Hanna (always always always), Saul Williams, David Bowie, and many, many others.
Favorite Books and Writers: I'll read almost anything, but I'm partial to bell hooks, Fatema Mernissi, Harriet Learner, Oscar Wilde, and Elinor Lipman. I love "The Joy of Doing Things Badly" by Veronica Chambers, "The God of Small Things," "Things Fall Apart," "Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life," "Machik's Complete Explanation," "Transforming Adversity into Joy and Courage," "Introduction to Tantra" by Lama Yeshe, "100 Years of Solitude," among others. Oh, and children's books.
I can't live without: breathing. Or meditation, which is really just breathing.
I am most proud of: being involved with the Dharma (Buddhism) for more than half my life. And embracing adventure to a ridiculous degree.
