I'm a woman on a mission

I am in the midst of writing a novel. Well, Im almost at the end of writing the book, but there seems to be something lacking. I dont think I have done my homework. One of the main characters has a affair.

 My novel just sorta misses the focal point...the point that sucks you in and entrapts you in the book. Will let ya'll know how it goes.
