To All the Jerks Out There
By Mlouise, Thursday, November 3, 2011, 1 commentsI am not perfect. I certainly know that. I have good days and bad days and despite my best efforts to be pleasant to people I encounter I am sure I may fall short from time to time. But I seriously need to get something off of my chest. I am so sick and tired of all the jerks I encounter. I think there are a few things they need to know and because they are such jerks most people won't tell them since they don't want to deal with it all - the drama, the stress, the attitude - all of it.
If you are not a jerk you may share my sentiments. If you are a jerk (or you are not quite sure), please read on. This is really for your own good and I am definitely not trying to be a jerk by sharing..
- The universe is not against you - I know you may think it is, but it truly isn't. Stop acting like everyone is out to get you when the truth is that you are your biggest enemy.
- The world doesn't need to suffer with you - I don't know what is going on in your life. If you are suffering I truly am sorry and I hope you find peace soon. But your suffering does not give you the right to make others suffer with you.
- Being nice is free - These days nothing is free and everything comes with a price. But guess what? Being nice to people is absolutely free and it makes people want to do something remarkable - it makes them want to be nice to you too! Try it.
- Karma is a bit#@ - No matter what you think, if you are rude and mean all the time it will certainly come back to bight you in the a$$. It may not happen any time soon but do you really want to spend your whole life holding your a$$ because you are scared of getting bitten?
- Some mistakes are irreparable - It may seem harmless to text while driving or cut someone off on the road because you are really, really late to work, but it's not. You can harm someone or cost them their life. Try thinking of other people first.
- Being a jerk and being inconsiderate are the same thing - If you think you are inconsiderate but you are not a jerk, think again. You are. Maybe you aren't one all the time but when you don't consider others before you act, you are being a jerk.
- It requires too much energy to be a jerk - Jerks are typically going trhough some personal stuff. They are angry, frustrated, lonely, sad, or something else. It takes a lot more energy to be a jerk to others than to let it go. Get help, move on, work it out, or let it go.
- Feed Your Soul - If you are a jerk (consistently) I am almost certain that some part of your soul is dying. Feed it.
- Remember who/what you are mad at/about - Stop directing your piss poor attitude at the wrong folks. If you have an unresolved issue go to the source to manage it and leave all the poor, unsuspecting souls in your life out of it
I think most jerks are good people deep down inside. They are just so nasty all the time that no one can see it and the truth is, they can't see it either. If you are a bonafide jerk I have no room for you in my life but if you are a jerk in recovery, I think I can make space.
