Have friends, will party
By Mi, Sunday, October 16, 2011, 1 commentsEvery year a parade goes by my house. That's part of the charm of living here.
In the past we had parties. Then I started working full time, and my schedule didn't allow for me to entertain easily, the parties became smaller, and the evening more relaxed.
This year I mentioned to some friends that since no one in myfamily would be home for the parade, except for me, I was going to go out and crash other parties along the parade route. One of them being a party at the local funeral home.
That--piqued thier interest, and one of these friends, invited herself along, and then invited several other people to my house. I didn't mind,
and I could easily throw a party together for less than 10 people, if they weren't too fussy about what wouldn't be there.
and I asked them to wear costumes. It's halloween...we're actors...its easy for them.
JUST to make sure I wasn't going to be buying a sandwich tray for 10 No-shows--I re-contacted them all.
and the one who invited them all---said she would be there! And she was Making lemon squares!
You know where this is going don't you? She didn't come to my house.
And in fact, when someone called her to see where she was, she gave me several lame ass excuses of why she couldn't be there.
And then asked me if that was ok.
I really wanted to say, "It's fine, because I wasn't expecting you to show up anyway, and if you did come here now, you wouldnt be welcome"but
I didn't. I said, 'Don't worry about. I understand...you were hiking all day...and you have to walk the dog...right.."
NEver mind that I fucking worked allday! Then got ready for a party at her behest! (Is behest the right word? seems good)
So, I hung up on her, and went back to visiting with the people who did trouble themselves to join me.
what really bothered me, was the lame ass excuses.
