Cobbler in the Window

It caught me by surprise.
Walking through town, thinking about the finacial mess and how so many millions of people are affected, I saw the cobbler in the window.
A young man, polishing a pair of shoes for his customer.
Working one task.
Saying hello to anyone that looked in or passed by the window.
Not hovering over a computer or attached to a phone. No machine polishing the shoe or a sign leading you to their website to cross market another product.
Just shoes. Just working. Just getting the job done.
And from the looks of the shoes piled next to him, his business must be doing well.
What caught me by surprise was the fact that the shoe repair business still existed.
This quick glance was a strong reminder that there is no magic bullet to fix the economy and financial losses.
There has to be a unified effort to just keep our noses down, use smart strategies and lean spending to get through this time. To make sure we are focusing on what we do best, to bring in what matters most in our lives.
