Lash Lust

Hello to all you babes in skirt land!
Ask a room full of women what beauty product they couldn’t live without and I’m confident that most would answer mascara. Somehow, a simple swipe of a mascara wand can be an eye-opening experience. Defining your eyelashes brightens and widens eyes with very little effort. Follow these simple steps to flirty, fabulous fringe!
Curl
A good eyelash curler will go a long way. Crimp lashes close to the lash line, careful not to catch the lid. Pump curler up the lashes. For extra emphasis, put some heat on it! A heated lash curler or a quick shot of heat from your blow dryer makes for a bigger impact.
Primer
An extra step will boost sparse lashes for a full, fluttery effect. Primers also help mascara glide on and come off easier. What’s not to love?
Mascara- Brush up!
It seems like every day there’s a new mascara on the market promising amazing lashes. How do you weed through all those choices and find your magic wand? First, determine your “lash look.”
Length- If you lust for longer lashes, look for mascara with a wand with shorter, densely packed bristles. This will allow for more product to coat your lashes. Many lengthening formulas contain fibers or plastic polymers that visibly add length. Focus on the ends of lashes for extra impact.
Thickening- Who doesn’t desire big, fat lashes? Volumizing formulas contain silicones and waxes to plump lashes in 1 or 2 coats. Start with a primer to intensify the effect.
*Try wiggling wand back and forth while working your way up lashes. Remove any clumps with brow comb.
Curling- Some lashes are just stubborn: they stick straight out despite our best efforts. Often, those with straight hair tend to have straight eyelashes as well. Combat genetics with a good eyelash curler and a curling formula mascara. These formulas contain polymers that contract when dry, pulling lashes up with it. Apply mascara from topside as well, curling up as you go.
Water-resistant- If you’re prone to smudging, this mascara is for you. Not waterproof, this formula is perfect for your teary-eyed occasions.
Waterproof- Consider this your “wet look.” This formula is best when reserved for your beach trip or day at the pool. Waterproof and resistant mascaras contain fewer additives, making for a more natural effect. Take care in removing these mascaras though; resistance comes at a price. Be sure to use a oil-based makeup remover- saturate a cotton ball and wipe gently.
Extensions- Make more of what you’ve got with extensions. The effect can be temporary or permanent.
Falsies- For false lashes, you have the option of using a full row of lashes or individuals. For a row, measure against your lash line and trim to fit. Apply a thin line of eyelash glue and allow to sit for a minute to get tacky. Apply from inner corner out, getting as close to the lash line as possible. For Individual lashes, apply with small amount of glue to the outer lashes for a flirty effect.
Nova Lash- For a more permanent solution to sparse lashes, see a salon professional for eyelash extensions such as Nova Lash. Take the health of your eyes seriously and check that the person administering the procedure is qualified to do so. Unskilled hands may inadvertently cause eye damage.
Treatments- The newest trend in lash lust is Lastisse. This treatment applied daily to the lashes stimulates the growth of new lashes. However, the side effects include eyelid darkening and brown iris pigmentation. So those of you with light eyes might want to stick with your regular lash regimen.

Well, that’s all for now. Hope these tips prove helpful! Until next time, be beautiful inside and out!

Lash Lust

Oops!

Oh MMFF,

On the surfect, it looks as though we're at opposite ends of the beauty spectrum...but it's not so! Beauty inside and out. Yep. That's the key. And..um..mascara for really, really sensitive eyes? Any recommendations?

ducatigurl...

ive got wicked sensitive eyes and ive tried everything, i can only use maybellines great lash mascara (the super inexpensive one in the bright pink and green tube) i cant do waterproof though, just the regular. seriously the only mascara that doesnt make my eyes turn bright red, and water all day while i try not to scratch them out. anything claiming to be hypoallergenic seems to mess with them more.

ive got great lashes (not to brag) but theyre totally blonde, and mascara is a must (im a classic pink and green great lash girl) but lately ive been thinking about having them tinted at my salon, any suggestions, advice, stories? it seems reasonably inexpensive and if it saves me any time and allows me to cut the one major step out of my beauty routine id be psyched. i just havent known anyone who has had it done before, but my main mascara purpose is color more than anything else.
