True Blood= Bite Me!

I say this running the risk of being staked to death by Edward lovers everywhere- The Twilight series is like my female equivalent of blue balls. And although at times entertaining, I am always left sitting there feeling empty and pissed off. TEASES!!!! My brain screams as the credits roll, what woman or man who has ever been satisfied my a sexual encounter can be happy with these stories or endings? Yes, it's sweet and takes you back to first love's obsession. Yes, it's the romantic longing of youth. And YES! I sound kinda pervy wanting these two kids to go ahead and get it on, but dangit, after a while it goes from suspenseful to all around annoying.... Until, that is, I found True Blood, the adult version of Twilight and what all the above 25-year-old women should be watching! It's got the darkness, the romance, the mystery- and the SEX!!!! HBO Sunday night at 9:00 is now silent at my house- only the sounds of thick Louisiana accents, rowdy vampire quarrels, and adult love sessions that make you wanna grab your man for a midnight snack of your own! Cheesy at times, yes, but still a guilty pleasure that I can't quit asking for more of. Any other viewers or am I the only sad one sitting at home sucking down Bloody Mary's and longing for vacation time so I can explore the swamps? Or maybe you are still sold on Edward, try to help me understand.

If you love the series

Try the books. I go through them like candy! I got most of my friends hooked before the series came out and now we all watch holding our breath to see if the series will be the same as the books.

I tried reading the first

I tried reading the first one, but her way of writing is so, hmmm, how do I say this? I have a HUGE southern/country accent, and I kept getting annoyed that her writing because it seemed written in an overly southern draw- does that make sense? I really loved the contents but couldnt get past how she was saying it. And although the actors do the same thing on the show, for some reason the visuals take the edge off and it fits better.

So far has it been a match? I heard that some characters were add ins for the show, like Tara.

Friend, you are not alone!

My husband and I Tivo True Blood (why?  I'm unsure since we always watch it as soon as it comes on!).   It is quiet literally my favorite t.v. show (well next to King of Queens, that is).   I agree with Laura, you should definitely read the books, although the show doesn't follow the books quite like Twilight does.   I am a much bigger fan of Sookie Stackhouse than I am Bella Swan.   Bella seems so feeble, while Sookie doesn't put up with any sh*t from anyone.    I love her!   I could sit and do comparsions of True Blood and Twilight all day long, not to mention if you throw in a little bit of Vampire Diaries.

Yeah I had

the opposite problem with the show. When I first started watching it the accents seemed so over done to me. I eventually got over it, because I love the show. As for book vs tv: The main plot lines are pretty much the same, but they have delved into the minor characters more to fill out the tv show which I have loved. I get to see if the characters that I invisioned from the books are similar to the ones that the creators invisioned. I love it!

Am I the only one who is not

Am I the only one who is not into vampires? I can't get on the bloodsucking bandwagon.

Oh Steph, you say that now,

Oh Steph, you say that now, for I was once in your shoes, until you end up renting the first disc from season 1 True Blood, staying up till 2 am, and going back to the movie store 5 times in one weekend until you have seen them all- so, I guess instead of jumping on the bandwagon you could say I high jacked it and drove it until the wheels fell off, ha :)
