Michael Jackson Is Not The Messiah!

In case you are blind, deaf, or dumb and unable to read, see, or hear- this week marks the one year anniversary of the death of Michael Jackson. Which also means that right when the roar of the circus train had faded and normal life returned, the pounding drums have started again and I can't take it!!

Yes! He was an amazing artist that blessed the music scene and paved the way for many fans and other singer/song writers along the way, but is he really worth the hooplah that seems to never stop? Did you know that he has made close to 200 million dollars in the past year since he died? The accumulation of his movie and record sales brought his estate out of bankruptcy and has made him worth more dead than alive.

The last time I checked, moon walking and dying for the sins of others didn't equal up, and yet it seems like the shrines taking place this week out number those on most religious holidays. OK, ok maybe I am over reacting or exaggerating a bit, but what's with our cultures need to raise celebrities so high that when they do die it seems like a monumental CRASH in our existence.

People stand on the streets of their houses crying and pulling at their hair with grief, candles line the driveways, and people come from all over to get a glimpse as the caskets pass. Why? How does one become so connected to a song, or a movie that they devote pieces of themselves to these strangers?

I am not heartless. I feel for any loss of life. For the families, and the lives that they have left behind, but I have never been able to connect on such a huge level.

Help me understand people! I think that Heath Ledger was a good actor but I am not about to tattoo his face on my back like the Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, Michael lovers out there.

I am with you. I liked MJ and

I am with you. I liked MJ and I liked his songs, but it's not like I'm weeping since he passed. I don't know that I've ever pulled at my  hair about a celebrity dying.
