Smitten by Bitten

I get bored easily by food blogs - they can get too preachy, too complex, too dumbed-down or too predictable in a hurry - but not the Bitten blog from the New York Times. Most often written by Mark Bittman (extraordinary food hero) with thoughtful and interesting guest posts, Bitten is ony too perfect.

If you like food, the recipes are outside the box, simple and lovely. If you want some knowledge on your plate next to your chickpeas, Bittman includes facts, stories and lessons with restraint and without judgment. I subscribe to the Bitten blog on my Google Reader and it always surprises and only exceedingly rarely disappoints.

The latest nugget? A quick and un-fussy do-it-yourself guide to making "Greek" yogurt. It's a wee bit history lesson, a little kitchen science and an attempt to save us all a few dollars. See the Bitten blog here and become smitten yourself.
