There was a mid 1960's film, "The Viking Queen" re the Roman occupation of Britain and the Iceni tribe Queen who led a revolt against the invaders.  A force of 80,000 Britons perished in battle vs 9,600 Romans under General Suetonius, according to Wikipedia, leaving Roman casualties of only 400.  But it was a study in courage.  Untrained soldiers led by a woman who had more tyranny than she could endure.  Accounts are that she took poison rather than be captured.
