Positive Schmaztive!

Okay, I really hate that lately anytime that I’ve wanted to write anything it has been either sad or mad. Well, here I go again. I really detest these upbeat people that are positive all the time and think that because they are positive other people aren’t allowed to be negative-ever- about anything! Oh and God forbid you ever complain about anything that isn’t going well in your life because then you get a big lecture on how lucky you are or how great your life has been (from their perspective of course)!

I’m a realist. I’m not an optimist and I never have been. If everyone was an optimist I don’t think that any problems that we face would ever get solved! I also don’t think that we would have any great works of art, literature or music if everyone was an optimist.

I’m on this high horse today because I went on Facebook one day and actually told people how I was feeling and it wasn’t positive. I was envious and jealous of all the people who write there about their great social lives and their multiple trips to the beach, etc.

I know that I’m ranting; but, if you can’t rant on your blog where can you rant? Everything isn’t always warm and fuzzy and frankly, I’m not the kind of person who can pretend. The lesson that I learned today from talking to one of these “positrons” is that sometimes you should just keep your opinions to yourself. Otherwise, you will get the “you’re so blessed and your life is great  lectures” from someone who thinks that she knows you, but doesn’t really have a clue about what your life is like!

Thanks, I feel better now. You may return to your regularly scheduled “positive” programs!

I get exactly what you mean.

Postive Schmazative!

Sometimes people just take

Sometimes people just take me way too literally. I failed to recognize that the person I was talking to is not really my friend. She is a relative sort of. She is my step-son's fiancee.

How "positively" refreshing! ;)

As I have gotten older, I have tried to become more aware of my "complaining" and keep it under control. It's true that like attracts like and I would like to think that by being more positive, I can attract more of that and those types of people in my life. HOWEVER - this world ain't perfect! And for those that are just on the planet to be so caught up in themselves that they only see the positive things in their lives or can put blinders on to the real things that go on, I have a hard time understanding them. When I have issues and problems in my relationship that I bring to the surface, my partner declares that I am the only "negative force" in his life. I then pinpoint myself as this "toxic" person who is out to steal all the joy in his life - WHATEVER! LOL - So if you ignore problems, does that just mean that there aren't any or that they will go away - sometimes yes, but most often no. I get the "new wave" stuff - but maybe I connected w/Oscar the grouch before I was able to talk for a reason?? Ya KNOW - thanks for sharing, I REALLY NEEDED to read it :)

Thanks for the comment! YOu

Thanks for the comment! YOu got it! I was just feeling grouchy and envious and damn it I am free and over forty and I was expressing myself. She seemed to want to deny me the right to express something that wasn't "positive". As I stated above, my mistake was in forgetting that she is a relative and not necessarily a friend.
