views25 Things About 25 Things
By Liz, Monday, February 2, 2009, 3 commentsThere is this viral sharing thing happening on Facebook (and it's not the kind that requires antibiotics) called "25 Random Things" and I can't get enough. Here's how it works: someone posts 25 supposedly interesting things about themselves on Facebook and then tags 25 friends to do the same. In honor of this strange little custom, I have written "25 Things about 25 Things."
- I am both horrified and humbled by people who share 25 random things about themselves.
- How can people spill this stuff in public?
- I am way too guarded to open up like that.
- Shouldn't a friendship grow organically? If I've known you for 25 years or split a bottle of wine with you, then yes, I probably do know that you're not much into health food; you are into champagne. But if I just met you, there's no need to tell me you have half a brain.
- No question it is my inability/unwillingness to share myself that results in my really only having two and a half friends, despite what my Facebook profile says.
- 25 Things reads a bit like celebrity profiles in women's magazines: my friends all have wonderful lives, amazing children, fulfilling careers and caring spouses who happen to be their best friends.
- Who knew?
- For all of you who post 25 Random Things, but would NEVER send a Christmas letter: you pretty much just did.
- If you are tagged in a 25 things post it means your friend wants to know more about you.
- If you are not, then they don’t really give a sh#$% about you.
- Only two and a half friends have tagged me.
- The rest of you can go to hell.
- Despite everything I've written here, I am addicted to 25 Things.
- First thing this morning, I poured a cup of coffee and read three posts.
- I felt like a voyeur. Here's what I learned:
- One friend drinks tea.
- Another friend watches the television show Lost.
- Now I know why the exercise is called 25 random things and not 25 interesting things.
- The third friend is married to the most wonderful guy on the planet.
- Sorry darling, that must mean I am not.
- I expect to be de-friended by at least 25 people (including my husband) after they read this post.
- I can't say I blame any of you.
- But I'll miss you because…
- I have the best friends on the planet.
- Thank you all for sharing.
