Lose That Beige!

Be Brave. Lose the Beige is the mantra for ideaLizms, my little art-based company.  But it’s not just about color (although I’m crazy about colors..all colors, the more the better).  Be Brave. Lose the Beige is really a life choice.  It’s wearing colorful socks, (preferably mismatched..it’s about buying colorful, fun jewelry..handmade preferably.. are those gold and diamond tennis bracelets really that interesting?  It’s about choosing the handmade bag (insert fun purse)  rather than the coach purse.  The love in hand-made beats machine made any day (not always, but a lot of the time). It’s about frequenting independent stores on occasion rather than chain stores. I shop at my share of Targets and Macy’s, but I really love the shops on Flagler Avenue in my little Florida beach town.  The clerks actually care whether you purchase something from their stores.  It’s about buying a little painting by an artist rather than a copy of the painting.  Sometimes these choices are less expensive than you might think.

Imagine walking through your family room each morning and beholding your red sofa and crazy colored throw pillows. It is psychically and spiritually nurturing.

A lot of artists refer to themselves as “fine artists”.  I prefer to call myself a “fun artist”.  My version of art emphasizes joy and fun through the use of color and whimsical sculptures.  I believe everyone can be an artist in their own life.

Come on, take the risk..be brave lose that beige (even just in private!)
