Name: Kathie Seekircher Boselowitz
Occupation: Homeschooling mom, freelance writer
Education: college, some post college
Relationship Status: Married
More about Me: My husband and I had children earlish -- at 26. I was blessed with four amazing daughters of all ages -- 18, 16, 12, and 5. They alone have taught me to live life in the moment. My big girls have taught me to live true to my word, which sometimes isn't always easy. I absolutely adore them all and am so lucky that I've been homeschooling them all their lives. I've got two awesome sisters who support me regardless. One amazing dad, and my mother, who lost her long battle with rheumotoid arthritis, heart disease, and ultimately cancer nine years ago. I miss her every single day of my life. But I had the luck and good fortune to view a fabulous marriage first hand. I also have great in-laws. They love me like I am their own. Sometimes they love me more than they love their own. :-) Their son has supported my writing from the very first moment I put pen to paper. All, in all, except for the pony that has penis cancer -- life is pretty good.
Favorite Music: any at all. Always a time to appreciate some type of music!
Favorite Books and Writers: Any non-fiction by Natalie Goldberg, Anne Lamott, and Elizabeth Berg.
I can't live without: diet coke, my four daughters, all of our animals, Sour Patch kids, sushi from Publix.
I am most proud of: my daughters, my relationship with my sisters, mother and father.
I am most guilty of: being a martyr. Some days when the it's hitting the fan, I'm often known to slam pots and pans, playing the martyr to the hilt. More of a Sarah Bernhardt. And a bad one at that. Not something I'm proud of, but something I fall prey to every so often.
Words I live by: This too shall pass. Breath, breath, breath. A little dirt never hurt anyone, a lot of dirt -- just step higher.
The world would be a better place, if only: we could forgive, and listen and accept those who are different from ourselves.
Interests: Homeschooling, animals (three horses, two dogs, three guinea pigs, three chinchillas and three rats -- none of them, but I'll care for them on an "as needed" basis.) I've sung with the CSO Singers Guild, as well as the Charleston Symphony Orchestras Gospel Choir. The Gospel Choir pushed me harder than I thought I could be pushed, and I reached higher than I thought I could. Absolutely amazing. I do freelance writing on the side. Got published in Skirt for the first time in August 2000, and about six times since then. After the loss of my mother and some other losses, I completely stopped writing. But in the last year, since the Gospel Choir, my muse is back, and I've started to write again. Perhaps I'll be in a few more print copies of Skirt! Who knows? Regardless, I love the blogs. Feel like I'm getting out there and being myself again.
