Skirt! Team Challenge: MIND: "Stressed to the MAX"

This is just a bad month.  I hate to say that because I have so much to look forward to.  My family is coming to visit me soon, I have a lot of birthday celebrations to look forward to, and overall things are going well because I have been exercising and meditating more regularly. However, all of the things on my "To Do" list are piling up on me faster than I can complete them all.

  • I am woefully behind on so many activites I need to do for my internship
  • My COMPS exam is coming up this Friday and studying for that has become my first and foremost priority.
  • Once my exam is over, my family will have my undivided attention all week, as we are having an awesome family reunion to celebrate my grandmother's 75th birthday.  I'm really looking forward to spending a week in the mountains, in a cabin with them all.
  • However, I will have a pot of stress simmering throughout that week, because I will have to prepare just before and just after for a state-wide policy project that a few students from my class and I are working on.  It will be a lot of work, considering that I've got (we've all got) a lot to catch up on and prepare for.
  • I will also have to take that weekend after my family leaves to catch up on 3 weeks worth of reading for 3 of my classes and prepare for papers and quizzes that following Monday on all of that material.
  • And, did I mention, that I will also be working double time on my beloved internship?  (Working on the internship is something I'm looking forward to--if all of the other class stuff weren't in the way).

I've exhausted myself just from writing out this list.  And, I'm sure there are things I've left out.  I'm not trying to complain here. I'm just trying to get a grip on it all.  Deep breath....

One thing I've noticed recently is that I have uncovered a dormant strength.  I realized that I've been very good at organizing all of the years worth of material from our classes.  I spent about $120 at Office Max for folders, stickie notes, flags, sharpies, organizers, etc. and have been putting them all to great use.  I feel so on top of the material itself, having it all neatly and prettily filed in a special project folder.  I have learned that it takes me a very long time to get organized, to sort through materials.  But, I've also learned that sorting through materials and organizing them helps me make sense out of chaos and helps to quiet all of the clutter I've got going on in my head.

Ok, that was a mouthful.  I'm going to get back to studying now.  I will be looking forward to reading about how everyone else's weeks have been going this week.  Thank you Skirt! Team for helping to keep me on track, keeping me mindful of the things I need to do to create and maintain balance:-)

Kimberly I love the part

Kimberly I love the part where you say you have uncovered a "dormant strength". Can you bottle that notion and carry it with you in your pocket? That is SO  important to realize and I hope you can remember that in times of stress.

There is a lot on your plate- no way around it. Just keep taking it one day/moment/project at a time- and use your "breaks" to the best of your ability to relax and not waste spending on worrying. Easier said than done, I realize... Enjoy your time with your grams coming up- get lots of pictures- and Happy Birthday early!

Keep up the good work!!!

Thanks Susan!   I did use one

Thanks Susan!   I did use one of my study breaks very well today--I joined our lovely Skirt!Setters in the wine at nine tonight.  No wine for me, though, lol--gotta stay up and stay alert:-)  It was a nice break.  I enjoyed hearing FoxC1's and Chelsea's voices.  And, I'm looking forward to meeting so many wonderful women in person at the conference.  Are you planning to go?

Hope you are having a good week!

Love,

Kimberly

I meant to "attend" and darn

I meant to "attend" and darn it- I was so tired- I took a computer break last night and went to bed early for me... I totally forgot! Remember my friend that died when I was 12... did you read that blog? Well, I got off work early yesterday and went by her grave near my "hometown:... said hello to mom and dad at another graveyard... My memoir writing has been taking a bit of an emotional toll on me. Between that an not exercising this past week, I  have been in a funk. Time to ditch it!!!

Soooooooo what did I miss??? Yes, I am going. FoxC and I are driving in together. Are you and Andi going to be able to come??? I hope to make the whole thing. tell me you are COMING!

PS Also- saw your tweet or microskirt- glad you are going to washington. So happy for you!!!
