Skirt! Team Challenge: MIND: "I know this is late, but..."
By kvargas, Friday, April 1, 2011, 2 commentsJust about everything in my life has been late these days. I've been three weeks behind on all of my schoolwork, trying to catch up, and I've also fallen behind on my Monday Challenge blogs. So, I apologize up front if this blog looks really out of place. I feel like one of those long-distance runners who finally makes it to the finish line just when everyone thought the race was over. I'm a little late, and I'm jogging in baby-steps but, gosh darn it, I've made it! We all have:-) I sincerely appreciate everyone who has partaken in this challenge, whether for short stretches here and there, or whether going for the full 3 months. I'm proud of what we've accomplished, that we decided to choose to take care of ourselves and to make our mental, physical, and spiritual health a priority. I'm sad that our challenge has reached it's end. But, I'm also excited to take on a new Monday challenge suggested by Susan Boswell, in the spirit of self-care. The link to the explanation for this new challenge is http://skirt.com/susan-boswell/blog/join-me-new-challenge-read-all-about-it for those who would like to join in:-)
Part of me worries that I'll lose the great momentum I've kept going in terms of self-care. Even though I started this challenge by losing weight and then putting it all back on during the most stressful comprehensive exams I've ever taken, I've also had such a sense of pride and accomplishment for being able to make some steady changes and to be able to see incremental results. I've learned that I do my best when working in supportive group settings. And, I've learned that anything is possible with the support and encouragement from wonderful women such as yourselves. I will try to keep self-care at the forefront of my mind as I have these past three months, and I will try to continue on my journey of spiritual, mental, and physical health. Thanks for the jump start ladies:-) And, I hope to see many more Skirt!Setters on the next challenge to follow this coming Monday!

Self care is so important. It
Self care is so important. It is definitely something that I value. When you feel like you are falling behind, that is the time you need to focus on yourself the most. Take care.
You are right Kimberly- it
You are right Kimberly- it doesn't matter that you are late. Just keep the mindset!
I am so proud that you passed your comps!!! You are on your way to becoming a fabulous social worker and extending the generous, caring spirit you've shown to us to others in need. I am so glad you are going to participate in teh new challege, and hope we can continue and improve upon the good things we have set in place.
