~RE-GIFTER QUEEN

What? Me, Regift? Naaaah. Well, Um.... Totally!
~~Okay, kids, I admit it…I’m a Re-Gifter. Actually, I am probably the “Re-Gifting Queen.” If you are reading this post right now, I most likely have given you a gift (from my heart, of course) which was previously given to me.
And I’m not sorry about it.
I have numerous perfumed candles (how can I possibly burn them all?), books up the ying yang (No! I will not read Daniele Steel or “Going Rouge”), multi-colored scarves, 100 kinds of English Teas, 7 copies of Jonathan Livingston Seagull (My all time Fave), and half of the Bath & Body monopoly.
No Shitola. My cup overfloweth.
I have my surplus of stuff, stuff, stuff (how much STUFF does a girl require?) packed neatly and carefully in a large wicker basket in my bedroom. The STUFF is waiting for homes like the misfit toys from Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.
You know; I still tear up when I watch those toys anticipating Santa to come fetch them off their island…Especially that darling red headed doll.
What is wrong with her- anyway?
Do you think I’m a bad person? Do you feel I should use something I don’t need to use---open something I don’t need to open? Or perhaps I ought to pour all of my bath oils into hot water and begin a Bubble Revolution, or initiate a Minnesota Tea Party.
What a waste.
Alright, It's true.... re-gifting does have its disadvantages.
For example, you must remember which person bought you which gift.
Last year, my sister was quite mystified after opening a charming can’t-live-without-angel-snow-globe.
“Whaaat?” I asked. “Don’t you like it?”
She hesitated...inspected the globe thoughtfully.
“Yes, I loooove it,” she finally hissed. “I should; I bought you the same damn thing last year.
Really? Awkward.
Like I said; remember from whom you receive your gifts…
So now the snow globe sits in my sister’s picture window overlooking
Divine.
Yep, I’m the Queen of Re-Gifting, Re-Wrapping, and Re-Cycling.
I don’t apologize for passing my STUFF onto others, finding houses for the polka dotted elephants and misfit toys.
And if you listen really hard, you may hear Rudolph’s sleigh bells off in the distance….perhaps delivering a gift to You from Me.
Please don’t feel bad if it’s a rum fruit cake from last Christmas (yes, they last that long) or the cinnamon & apple scented candle Aunt Bonnie purchased from the Pier One for my birthday.
The thought is still genuine…Still sealed with lots of love and affection.
I only hope I remembered to remove the previous tags!
A Last Important Note: Re-Gift something today for people that will least expect it. Why waste something that could be utilized , appreciated, and loved?! And if you happen to find that darling red headed doll, send her my way, okay?
~~~Merry Christmas! Joy! Peace! God’s Blessings!~~~~ XXXX OOOO
you go girl!
Krobbi,
I don't think there is anything wrong with re-gifting. As an organizing enthusiast, I think it is a great way for people to clear out their clutter. Afterall, one persons junk is another person's treasure. So hell yeah, rewrap, retag, and send along its merry way. I consider it all a part of the karmic gift giving of life.
Cheers,
Jody
Your gift
Hello Ladies Kim, your gifts are your honesty and your willingness to share yourself. Thank you.
Re-Gifter
My Sister re-gifts. She went to a Christmas party on her hubbys side of the family and she didnt like what she got so yesterday she gave it to me. Lol. My sister hates candles, and I love them. So, im picking her upsomething else she might like as a small extra gift for Christmas. No use in letting things go to waste.
Kim, I do have that red
Kim,
I do have that red headed doll and I have to keep her becasue I have the whole collection. they come out each year and they go in spot where the kids can enjoy them and the dog can't reach them.
Regifting is okay I think especially if one has too many of some things - but I collect scarves so send them to me! :-)
Merry Christmas my sweet, regifting friend. xxx elizabeth
And, you're a teacher
You forgot to mention that you're a teacher. I'm sure you have more than your share of "Greatest Teacher" mugs and apple sculptures in all shapes and forms. (Paper weights, paper mache, pencil holders....) I wouldn't considering it re-gifting as much as re-purposing! You're spreading the blessings and not requiring new production, use of our resources, and downfall of the enviornment. See, you're a philanthropist in your gifting! :)
What about those "gift
What about those "gift packs" of lotions, bath washes, and loofahs? I've got more lotion that I know what to do with! While I've never regifted, this post inspired me to start. Merry Christmas, Kim, and thanks for the laughs! <3
