lynn lamousin named “most influential writer on the internet”

I’ve just been named “most influential writer on the internet”*!   If I didn’t see it in print I wouldn’t believe it; but here it is on the Internet, so it must be true.  Right?!

Wow, this is so incredible.  Now when I tell people I’m a noted writer, they can Google me (which they'll surely do) and this article will show up at the top of the search results and prove that “Lynn Lamousin is a noted writer.”

And just in case they search using another phrase, let me add that since I've been named “Most Influential Writer on the Internet” I can now state “Lynn Lamousin is an award winning writer.” Oh, and I should also mention that I own the company KITTYBOY Creations, Inc. and that I am available for hire.  After all, don’t you want Lynn Lamousin, the most influential writer on the Internet, working on your communications projects?

And since I am documenting the fact that I won this award, and since this page shows up in search results, that proves it to be true, right?

Look to the right and you’ll see me accepting an award trophy at a lavish ceremony.  I know that it looks like a photo of Sandra Bullock at the Academy Awards with my face superimposed over hers, but it’s not.  It’s a real, unretouched photo.  You believe me, don’t you?  You should, because it’s posted right here on this blog and remember if it’s on the Internet then it must be true.

All I can say is darn that Rachel Zoe for dressing me in the same outfit that Sandra Bullock wore.

Oh, didn’t I mention that?  Yes, celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe dressed me and I’ll probably be appearing on her reality show.  (If I don’t show up on her hit Bravo television show that just means I ended up on the cutting room floor.  It does not mean I was never a client of Rachel Zoe.)

So, in closing, I'd like to thank you all for letting me influence you!  And I also want to thank Google, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), and all the Social Media Experts who keep trying to get my attention on Twitter.  You inspired me.

************

Okay, “so what’s really up?” you ask.

I’ve had a week in which my bullshit meter has been pinging all over the dial.

First, a woman I am connected to on LinkedIn (and who I know through business dealings) announced that she received a very prestigious recognition from a very prestigious publication.  So I did some research and realized that the “award” was simply a blogger on the magazine’s website putting up a post with suggestions of people to follow on Twitter.  So, her “award” was no award at all, yet she is posting this misleading information everywhere and is trying to leverage this into "something" when it is really "nothing"—more than a nice mention on a blog.

So I started to really think about how gullible people are.  I can post anything online and if it gets picked up by enough search engines people will believe it as fact.

Like the fact that Lynn Lamousin is the most influential writer on the Internet.  ;-)

Then later in the week I saw the opposite happening with regard to people being willing to accept things being shared online as fact.

First, this sports story hit the news:

Villanova guard Corey Fisher scores 105 points in a New York City summer league game.
http://espn.go.com/blog/collegebasketballnation/post/_/id/14200/did-corey-fisher-really-score-105-points

Then, a friend of mine tried to drum up awareness about a child custody case in Ohio:

Looks Like Kidnapping is Now Legal in Ohio. Read about Ohio court case Brown vs. Elliot.
http://wouldashoulda.com/2010/08/08/looks-like-kidnapping-is-now-legal-in-ohio/#comment-131752

And both of these stories were met with extreme skepticism. (Note: Please do your own due diligence about anything mentioned in this blog!)

I don’t know whether to feel bad that we’ve lost faith in accepting that travesties and triumphs can occur (even if there isn’t a video on YouTube to substantiate it), or feel glad that people are seeking out confirmation of events before believing them.

But what I do know is that I want to again thank you all for naming me the most influential writer on the Internet!

Type "most influential writer

Type "most influential writer on the internet" into Google and this blog post shows up FIRST.

Crazy. But very funny.

Hey, Skirt! editors -- Maybe I should be leading the Wine at Nine call next week on SEO ;-)   (kidding!)

I love it!

I love it!    And I love the picture.  Isn't it funny what gets picked up? If it's printed it must be true right????  Reminds me of a very funny story I'll tell you next week.  FYI:  It also came across my alerts today...hmmm....maybe you should lead SEO class!  ;-) ~h

Heather told me to read this.

Heather told me to read this–and she was SO right. I'm so sad I missed it yesterday. Ha. Great one! I am going to write a blog about how I am a Best Selling Author and mention it 20 times. I didn't say that it was the NY Times Best Sellers List. Maybe it was just a book that I sold to my neighbors.

Fantastic Lynn!

You are one clever woman!  My name is so common that when you Google it info on me doesn't even come up until the 2nd page.  Darn that Stephanie Davis for thinking of "Best selling Author".  Maybe I'll write a blog about Bradley Cooper leaving Renee Zelwegger for me and mention it 20-30 times.  (Bradely Cooper leaves Renee Zelwegger for wanna-be MILF and suburban not-really-a-housewife Charlene Ross.)  I mean that would make it totally true right?  And hey, can I send you a couple of photos of my face to superimpose on Cindy Crawford's body?  I don't think Cindy will mind.
