Ladies who Lunch

Ok, I'll admit it. I'm out of gas. Cooking is something that I love to do and I know what dishes I can prepare. Not only until I began cooking more freqently did I realize...What else can I make? It's been about three weeks of me cooking full meals and I am wondering what I can repeat. I can do chicken, and I can do beef. That's about it. A lunch out with my friend Jessica helped inspire me to try to make something outside the box since we didn't order either.

It was hard to focus on the menu with cute waiters walking around. I'm so serious she looked like this almost the whole time. (0:

I would usually order a sweet tea but in my effort to hydrate and stay healthy... "water with lemon, please." The tea next to me sure looked good.

I do make salads at home, but I haven't attempted a mixed green salad. No extras, just mixed greens. It seems simple but it was very delicious. I'm guessing the dressing was a olive oil/vinegar mix with salt and pepper. Now if I can only remember what these greens looked like when I get to the store...

Our server had to explain everything that was in jess' dish..

I'm still not sure of the rundown, but it had apricots, spinach, and more in a sweet sauce. I am not a big pork eater, so I don't cook it much at home unless I want bacon and eggs. This dish looked amazing however and made me want to explore "the other white meat a little more." Any foodies out there?

Steamed mussels in an amazing sauce made with riesling, and crunchy bread. I enjoyed this so much i can't wait to google how to make steamed mussells. Shellfish is something else have never cooked with. Again to the foodies..share the knowledge!

Mmmm nice hot coffee..already a regular at my house.

Sounds like fun!

I love a good ladies lunch. Whenever my Mom visits or even my sister, we try to do a lunch with just the girls. It is always wonderful!

I am such a foodie. Let me tell you. Mussels are the best and really easy to cook. You just need a steaming pot of water and to not eat the unopened ones. But its the broth that's tough to do well. I would search for a good one on epicurious.com. They have tons!

Thanks!

@ Laura...yes ladies lunch is a must do! Where do you like to go? @ Steph, Thanks! I am going to try that this weekend. I'll have to google the sauce recipe. :0)
