My Bus Driver...Made My Day
By jthyme, Thursday, December 22, 2011My poor car has"the flu".
She's been coughing up coolant, and her runny nose is full of ... yellow stuff that is all
over the driveway.
So I made an appointment for her to see the doctor. I filled out all the important papers
and waited patiently in the lobby with my baby.
Finally the receptionist, called our name and we went in to see "Dr Feel Good".
By the time the doctor diagnosed the condition... I nearly passed out.
"Well...she needs new brakes, a new trottle, and so on and so forth", smiled the doctor.
"So what her temperature...doc?" I asked frantically.
"$1100.00"he smiled.
All of a sudden... I felt faint... tears rolled down my face uncontrollably.
My palms were sweaty and I had the worst migraine, ever.
I drove home sicker than my car.
Around this time of the year... who has $1100?.
So I parked my sick car in the garage.
"How am I going to get to work?" I thought.
There was a bus stop not far from my house.
I called to find out the schedule, and the following morning
I was on the MTA.
The bus driver was a very friendly lady with
a warm smile.
"Good morning" she greeted.
"Good Morning" I grumbled.
My early wake-up calls started at 5:30 am.
Of course if Imy car was running...I'd have
a 6:30 grace period... but not anymore.
The mornings were dark, and it even seemed
that the house was colder( probably all in my mind).
When leaving the house I'd look all around me because
it seemed as if I were the only one walking that time of
morning.
Each morning this friendly bus driver greeted everyone
with a wonderful smile. No matter how she felt.
What a
trooper... I thought to myself.
Its been a year since I rode her bus line.
Today, she greeted me with her award-winning smile.
She handed me a Christmas card and a gift.
"You're so sweet" I told her.
I held up the line but I gave her a kiss on her cheek.
People don't have to be nice. Especially bus drivers.
I've seen her substitutes on her days off..boy can they use
a dose of "pleasant pills".
My bus driver is the best!!!! she didn't only get me a gift,
but at her various stops, she gave her favorite passengers,Christmas gifts.
If my car didn't have the flu...I never would have met...Kathy!
Happy Holidays!!!!
