I'd really like to believe that most people are socially adjusted individuals, but then I go online... For instance, I've been using couchsurfing quite a bit in the last 9 months and most of the people we meet are cool folks, but lately I've been getting contacted by a lot of dudes. I don't know for certain that all these guys in India and now Egypt aren't just looking for a genuine cultural exchange, but their messages are just a wee bit creepy. This isn't a dating site and if you can't read my profile to figure out I'm married, I don't really want to meet up for coffee or have you show me around.
Oh, and PS to the nudist dude who contacted me wanting to meet up in Bangkok, I didn't ever say feminism was the answer to all the world's problems, just ya' know, the ones having to do with the oppression of women.

Agreed. One of my biggest problems with the Internet is that is gives power to creeps, scammers, lowlifes and cowards.

I ran into a guy who wanted to stir up controversy and get everyone angry. He used alter egos to do his talking so it wouldn't be obvious. By the time I figured it out and withdrew from the thread, I was major creeped out. Just thinking about the lengths he went to to stir up resentment.
