Will More Women Make a Difference?

Would state government be different if there were more women involved? There's one way to find out--support SC GAP.

In a few weeks, we'll elect a new governor. That governor will be responsible for appointing hundreds of people to state boards and commissions. SC GAP is working to make sure that the new guv has a heap of qualified women to consider for those appointments.

It's a program that has the potential to make a big impact quickly, just by making qualified women aware of the opportunities and by making the governor aware of these women.

So far, about 230 women have submitted their resumes online. SC GAP would like to add hundreds more.  This is where you can help:

  • Consider submitting your resume. You can learn about the various appointments online at scelectswomen.com. You can also submit your resume online, and your submission is completely confidential.
  • Encourage a woman you know to participate. I've been encouraging smart, experienced women I know to give it a look (and I've gotten a few of them to submit!).
  • Join the Southeastern Institute for Women in Politics on Facebook.

this sounds awesome!

this sounds awesome! I wonder if they have anything like this in other states?

Will More Women Make a Difference?

Yes, other states are doing this!

California, Rhode Island and a number of others have Women's Appointment Projects. Massachusetts has been one of the most successful states with this program: http://www.massgap.org/about.htm
