Precious

I rented the movie, "Precious" yesterday.  Wonderful performances by Mo'Nique and Gabby Sidibe. I had a couple of friends say that they could not watch it as it was too hard. I thought about not renting it, but then I knew that from the previews the performances looked quite powerful and I didn't want to miss them. It was difficult to watch and made me jump a couple of times (if you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about).

An uncomfortable movie such as Precious (based on the book Push by Sapphire) may not change the way some parents treat their children, but it certainly is eye opening. The abuse she endured was horrific. After during some research, I found that the story was based on true events for many young women in Harlem. Of course, we know that not all abuse happens there, it is everywhere.

Just maybe someone, somewhere will watch this movie and get out of their situation, turn someone in or the one doing it will stop.
