Depression & Suicide
By Jennmck48, Sunday, June 26, 2011, 3 commentsSomeone I know just lost a dear friend to suicide. This lady had tons going for her professionally but after losing her job, things went down hill. My heart breaks to thnk that she apparently did not seek treatment of any kind. She was in the medical field herself so this is baffling. As I wrote in a previous blog, I know the black hole that affects millions. I thankfully sought help and overcame my deep depression which was part genetic and part circumstance.
If you are reading this and have thoughts of taking your own life, reach out to someone. Reach out to a healthcare professional, friend, family member or even me. Whatever you are going through is not the end. Reach, just reach out and ask for help.
Sometimes embarrassment or pride overshadows our need to ask, but don't let it. That's just an ugly side of you that can be overcome. Some might say it's just Satan rearing his head. Don't let him win! Fight, fight, fight!
There is so much help in today's world. One thing that helped me was reading a book called, "The Book of Hope' by M.D.& Victoria Y. Pellegrino Helen A. DeRosis (1980). This book truly got me through some very rough times after the death of my sister-in-law. I also sought therapy. Medications are so much better today. Sometimes it takes a while to get them right, but it can be done.
Just remember, what you are going through is not the end. This too shall pass.

Thank-you Jen,
We need to shine the light and write about topics like this! Many people lose hope too easily.... there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.
Blessings,
