Week of the 4th wrap-up with a bang!
By hnagel, Friday, July 8, 2011This week has launched July with a bang! Starting with a star-spangled salute and ktelega reminding us how the 4th came to be. Susan wrote about her move in a Muffin Truck and Kgwaite had a great post about trust.
Tuesday led off with the nation buzzing over the Casey Anthony trial verdict. abrechtel1 put it all out there and discussed why she would have found her not guilty as well.
We celebrated Wednesday by having a mid-day Neapolitan ice cream break in skirt!land with our favorite gal pals. (Something we are considering adopting everyday or at least until the ice cream runs out). The craftchick showed us all how keep our wires straight with her creative organization. Elizabeth (our favorite "view from the edge" ...see how I got the new name right off the bat Elizabeth?) introduced us to Nicole Dauenhauer who we are happy to welcome into the skirt!setter club!
Thursday rocked! Our favorite flickchick does a flashback in time review of the Harry Potter movie, The Sorcerer's Stone. One of our skirt!setters (writeousbabe, aka Javacia Harris Bowser) wrote about having her essay published in the print magazine version of skirt! this month. You can read her essay, A Darker Shade of Brown here on skirt.com!
To top the week off, I hope you take a few minutes to read a very thoughtful post by Sarah Knight called "Don't just tell little girls they are pretty" It is a wonderful reminder of how we shape the minds of our daughters by how we communicate with them.
Our independence has definitely headlined this week, particularly for women. The newly created United Nations Women (UN Women) released a 169 page, eye-opening report on July 6th that I encourage you to download and read. While it recognizes the progress that's been made, it also powerfully shows how much father we have to go to secure justice and equality for women around the world.
skirt! blogs have sparkled this week with so much passion, fun, humor and love. Let us know below what you found interesting this week!
I wish you all a fantastic weekend!
Peace, love and skirt!
