Wonder Woman

Who am I ?

This is the picture I use for skirt!, but we know that I am not Wonder Woman, except that I wonder and I am a woman.

I am also the mother of Nathan who made this picture.  He created and donated it for the Annual Wonder Woman Event in Portland, Oregon.  The proceeds going to a local Domestic Abuse Shelter for Women.  A young woman out-bid me for hundreds of dollars.  This large painting is hung in her office...she's an attorney with a fabulous mind and a loving heart.

Interesting is that when I look at the face of this picture, I see Nathan's face.  Yet also interesting, is that he and I have been told that we "favor" each other.  Nathan is a gift to the world and I am blessed to have a front row seat in his life.  To be "his mother" is my joy, but truly, he is all him ~ which combines intelligence, spirit, brightness, creativity, talent, grace, wisdom, patience, kindness, humor, generosity... it's a long and lovely list.  (I joyfully add that I am also blessed to be the mother of Joah, our second beautiful tender-hearted, playful, animal advocating second son)

Today's post was going to be incredibly brief.  Three words sat on page three of my morning pages and stunned me. 

I spent pages one and two exploring my mind, scanning some attached tensions, deciding that my focus today (and this week) would not be about crunching, scampering, preparing for some upcoming deadlines in the creative world... and after I wrote, "I am not productivity, I am not perfection, I am not efficiency, I'm not covering every base, I'm not success"... these words leaped several lines and wrote:  I am Love.

I stopped.  I stared.  I breathed. 

I am Love.

Could I just put "that" out there?  Could I just post            I  am  Love         on my facebook wall/status, on skirt! ?

So, I did on my facebook wall.  I just did it and let it go.  Minutes later, I gulped.  I got back on and saw that three people already "liked" it.  I smiled.  I would be okay.

I got on skirt! wondering, "Will I do a simple microskirt or post several real photos and a little story about myself and LOVE ?"

... and something caught my eye.  It was Wonder Woman up on the featured blogger banner.  Did you hear me laugh out loud?  (Life really cracks me up... a lot)  

So, in honor of          I am Love         and to invite you to know more about me than this interesting icon I chose for skirt!, here is a little bit more about heatherlaree offered for This Week of Love (aka Thanks, Gratitude, Appreciation, Loved Ones, Family, Goodness & Kindness).

And here is a short little story to share ~

A precious three-year-old little girl watched through the window as the tall black man labored as he created the concrete patio.  Every so often, he would look up from his work and smile at her.  She would smile back and wave to him.

At her request, her mother took her outside to meet the man.

He stopped his work, wiped his face with a hankerchief, and got down on one knee so he could meet the little girl who would smile and wave to him each day.

She said, "You and I are the same."

He chuckled and smiled.  "We are?"

She said, "You have brown eyes.  I  have brown eyes too.  Just like you."

My favorite quote ~ "Seek to connect"

(the longer version... "Seek to connect when I feel separated from my love.  When I compare, I separate.  I make myself or another the winner or a loser and that just isn't true or where I want to live.")

I  am Love.

And so are you.

We're the same.
