Teddy Turner is watching for the ripple effect.
By margaret, Thursday, December 1, 2011A longtime sailor and lover of all things educational, both interests have come together for Teddy. Already an economics teacher at Charleston Collegiate, he’s had his fair share of engaging students, but teamed up with the South Carolina Maritime Foundation Teddy’s got a grander goal: “a hard core campaign to get South Carolina’s youth to see new and larger horizons and more importantly to graduate from high school.” Already known for their ongoing leadership training and experiential learning aboard the Spirit of South Carolina, Teddy knows that SCMF’s positive persistence pays off. “If we can change one student’s understanding of the topic at hand then usually the rest will follow—sometimes it seems like a herculean task, but the ripple effect is huge.”
What do you like about wearing a skirt? “Intimidating yet freeing; men do not have enough clothes choices!”
What do you like about reading skirt! magazine? “I like to read it so that I can at least be somewhat aware of what it is that my daughter and my wife are talking about—it’s like getting a sneak peek at the test before you have to take it.”
