Gleeks Unite!

I'm not ashamed to be a gleek.  I like show tunes and love musicals.  I can't believe I've been missing out on this show and if I can help it I won't miss anymore.  My household must be one of the few that doesn't own a DVR.  Although I find the show wildly entertaining I'm well aware that just as many people find it annoying or pointless.

Consider this... without the music it would be a cheesy teenage soap opera.  With the music intertwined into the storyline, it is a bright spot in a world of television riddled with "reality" programming (I use the term "reality" loosely) and endless lawyer, doctor, cop shows.  Where else would you see or even hear Rick Springfield's "Jesse's Girl", Brandy/Monica "The Boy is Mine" and  Sammy Davis Jr/Sinatraesque rendition of "The Lady is a Tramp"?  It's brilliant!

The most attractive lure of the show for me is that there's a group of students that wouldn't otherwise associate with one another who are brought together by music.  In an era of unoriginal TV, Glee has caught my attention and made me a fan.
