The balance of life.....
By grayze, Wednesday, April 28, 2010teeters like being on a seesaw with someone fifteen pounds heavier than you are. Seesaws are probably antiques now. I haven't seen too many on the playground circuit recently. For my 70s and 80s babies out there this will be a flashback. Remember being suspended mid air until the big kid pushed off the groud to get his/her turn in the air. When you slam to the ground and scramble to bear down with all your weight and harness the power of gravity to stay on the ground. Of course if you're on the lighter end of the seesaw and you try to keep it level, more than likely your feet barely touch the ground.
In the midst of marriage, parenting, working full time plus some extra hours while a hot project is going on, finding time to sleep, eat and any leftover time which I consider "free", I'm feeling like the fat kid has me stranded in the air on the seesaw. Balance is elusive; figuratively and literally. Just when I feel like things are under control, it seems like the boat has sprung yet another leak. I'm plugging the holes with both hands and a big toe and I see another leak spring up just out of reach. That is where I am right now.
I'm coming to the realization that balance will never come to you - you've got to work for it. Otherwise your circumstances will always be the fat kid holding you up in the air.
