SKIRT! Team 2011 Mind~ Body~ Spirit Challenge Mind: Almost there

As many of you know, my challenge has been to find a better way to spend fifteen minutes alone a week.  To say this has been hard to do is an understatement; it has been like pulling teeth.   So far this challenge has made me think more about why I cannot find the time, more so than actually finding the time.   Over the past few weeks I have dug deep inside myself to find the reasons behind this issue.  With the help of my sister and my skirt sisters (Susan and Kimberly) I have found the problem.   To help things along I will say this; I am having a hard time forgiving two people in my life, myself being one of those people.  I am afraid to take the time alone for fear of dealing with some underlining personal issues.

There I said it………

That was hard to do because I am not one to enjoy playing the victim, my ego is way to fragile for that.  I don’t like to tell people about my youth because I don’t want them feeling sorry for me.  I tell people with hopes that if they know someone suffering from the same thing that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.  I also tell them because it is what has created the strong,  God fearing person you see before you now.  HHHHHHAAAAAAAAAA now, I did find my fifteen minutes this week… Guess where??????????????  In the (drum roll please)

Yes, in the shower I have found that my mind is at peace.  I don’t really have anything on my mind but enjoying those wonderful streams of hot water on my skin.  Now, you might ask why not take a hot bath….No way, when I get in the tube I take two phones and an ipad with me… Yes, I know it makes no sense…. So, I say this past week has been pretty good because I was able to address an issue I didn’t want to face.  I also found a way to get fifteen minutes of quiet time in as well.  I guess we will see what happens the rest of this week with me managing my down time.   Also, we will see how well I handle the beginnings of moving past my ability to FORGIVE…  Thanks for all of your support and for listening.

Such a powerful post!  This

Such a powerful post!  This is so incredible that you are begining to confront the demons of your past.  This reminds me of when I first began meditative chanting.  The idea was to imagine a happier life--and when I began doing it, my life began to crumble around me!  Everything I wanted to go right ended up blowing up in my face. I went to the woman who introduced me to chanting and said, "This isn't working it all!! This is making my life worse!!"

She got so excited at my news and exclaimed, "That's SO WONDERFUL!!"   --Of course I was super confused by this.

She explained:

When we don't meditate, our lives become like a dormant water hose.  Over time, the longer we go without meditation, the more dirt and grime have a chance to build up inside of the hose. When we begin to meditate, to try to gain clarity in our lives and gain focus on trying to become happier, it's like turning on that water faucet.  Before the clear water can come out of the water hose, all of those years of blockage and buildup have to come out first--they have to come out to make room for all of the clear, flowing water that has been aching to be released can come out of the hose.

So, I am pleased to hear that you are at the beginning stages of realizing through self-reflection and meditation what has been getting in between you and your time for self love is a GREAT step.  Your time for meditation is already working so powerfully for you.  Please continue to take those 15 minutes for yourself everyday:-)  And, 15 minutes in a hot shower sounds heavenly--not to mention it's great for your skin:-)

You are growing so much right now, and you're taking your power back when you take time for self care.  You deserve it!!

I'm really looking forward to hearing more about how this all goes for you, in your blogs or in emails:-)

HUGE hug,

Kimberly

Forgiveness is powerful

Forgiveness is powerful
Forgiveness is powerful. It’s also one of the hardest things to accomplish. I think it is about the only way we can gain peace for ourselves. I think it really is true that anger and resentment hurt us the most.

Good luck with your battles - I hope you find the peace you are looking for.

Love it!

I love that you found a way to get your 15 minutes in every day!  So glad to see your progress, forgiveness is really hard but there is a quote that I always try to remember.

'To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you.'
Lewis B. Smedes
