Some Self-Talk
By fitsandgiggles, Thursday, December 8, 2011, 3 commentsCome on, Susie. You’ve done it before.
You’ve dug yourself out of the trenches.
You’ve worked the 9-5 grind when you were terrified to do so.
You’ve gotten through surviving on almonds and $1.49 hot dogs when money was scarce.
You’ve scored jobs when you’ve needed them. You’ve survived the intimidating managerial supervision.
You’ve lived through roaches and unsuccessful exterminations.
You’ve traveled exclusively by foot when you couldn’t obtain a license. (Well, and in cabs at times…honesty is important)
You’ve carried heavy groceries all the way home without complaint.
You’ve scraped together the money to pay your bills.
You’ve recognized the problem and you’ve solved it.
But that’s because the problem was always staring at you in the face, being felt in your grumbling stomach, being seen in your shrinking bank account.
When you’re living comfortably, and everything is provided for you, it’s harder to recognize the problem.
To dig yourself out of the trenches, then—
That is the real challenge.

Definitely a lesson learned,
Definitely a lesson learned, but when you come out of the trenches, you have a something more valuable than what you would have learned if someone had bailed you. You can hold your head up high and say, "I MADE IT!"
