Objects in Motion...

Since today is kind of an idle day for me, I’m not exactly in the best state to write a post about MOTION.

I’ve been meaning to write a post about motion for the past couple of weeks.  I just finished a two-week babysitting job where I would take care of a pair of siblings every day from 8 am-3 pm.  This was exactly what I needed in terms of making some money and having a real, 9-5 type schedule.

Every day I had that job, I felt like I was in motion.  Every morning I had somewhere to be, and then after work I had somewhere else to be.  As someone who needs a lot of sleep, I had to carefully plan the things I did each day to make sure I could get to sleep at the hour I wanted.  Free time became precious and a joy, because it wasn’t always around.  I felt like I was “on the go,” in a good way.

Lunches had to be made the night before, emails had to be sent during the day to avoid all-night sessions, things had to be picked up by certain times.  Iced teas had to be purchased to get a caffeine boost, and drinking them made me feel like I had joined the world of people in motion.

Even though there were some days where I felt reallyyyyyyy tired, there were some nights where I slept really well as a result.  Talking to a friend/family member/cashier at some point in the day became a true pleasure because I had limited time to do it.

Overall, it really was great.

Now it’s Labor Day and it’s time to look for the next babysitting job or, the elusive full-time job.  Until then, my brain will be kind of foggy.  It’s not that I can’t appreciate unlimited free time, it’s just that right now I don’t have a main purpose, some sort of daily involvement in SOMETHING.  But after the last two weeks, that’s what I crave, and that’s what I have to go get.
