Easy as White Trash
By figmentcat, Monday, August 9, 2010Now I'm the last one to perpetuate the use of stereotypical nicknames, but yall have just got to try this yummy dessert snack. I'm back to share another delicious -- and super easy -- recipe. (Can you tell I have a bit of a problem when it comes to sweets?!) This recipe is for a sinfully good party snack lovingly nicknamed "White Trash." It seems like every food in south Louisiana has a crazy name and appears just as crazy on the outside, but when you dig in, it'll be the best thing you've ever had. White Trash is made from just 3 simple ingredients, but like with the best recipes, you can add or mix whatever other goodies you think will jazz it up the best.
"White Trash"
Golden Grahams cereal, white chocolate chips, vegetable oil
To make, melt a half a bag of white chocolate chips in a microwaveable bowl. In a separate larger bowl, pour in a few cups of the cereal, adding a tablespoon or two of oil to coat. When the chips are melted, all you do is spoon the melted chocolate over the coated cereal to cover. You can then spoon out little clusters onto wax paper to let set in the fridge. (For more or less, just vary how much chocolate you melt and how much cereal you use.)
As you can tell, this recipe is very open to interpretation. The first time I tried it, it had peanuts as well, which added a nice salty crunch to the flavor. Me being the sugar nut that I am, I just prefer the basics of the cereal and white chocolate. It makes for a great snack on the go or as part of a trail mix. I think I ate about half the tray of it when I had it the first time. It's that good! Enjoy!
