Valentines Flop . . . revisited . . .
By Emsonline, Saturday, February 12, 2011, 2 commentsI'll going to admit something here that even now makes me cringe with embarrassment - one of those valentine flops . . . one of the times that you wish you hadn't done something spontaneously and without due thought to the consequences.
This 'event' took place, whoah, let me see it must be 7 years ago, I'd been with my partner for 3 years then, it was coming up to Valentines day and I'd got my "its time-to-make-it-official" head on. I wanted confirmation that our relationship was secure and needed that in writing so instead of possibly approaching the situation with a little subtly I booked First Class tickets on the Eurostar to Paris with the intention of asking my man to marry me!
I told my partner I'd booked a romantic weekend away and as the days grew closer to that fateful day I started to get really nervous . . . what if at the top of the Effel Tower he sad 'no', did I want to pressure my man? was this right?
So, as only I know how to do, I got blindly drunk and ended up telling him my intentions.
We did go to Paris . . .
I did not ask my man to marry me . . .
. . . and every Valentines he coyly reminds me "remember when you booked that weekend?".
We tied the knot 26th June 2006 - and he asked me!
