Two large milestones . . .
By Emsonline, Sunday, January 30, 2011, 2 commentsI seriously can't believe my little baby is going to be a teenager in 2 weeks . . . and then I'll have hit my so called mid life crisis, and turn 40!
How did that happen so quickly . . . did someone fast forward the past 10 years? I don't feel like I should be old enough to have a teenager. I'm proud of the fact that she has turned out (so far) to be so grounded and I really enjoy my time with her, even though she does give me that 'screwed up nose killer look' every so often - but if I remind myself I'm sure I was much worse when I was her age (sorry mama!).
So enter the conversations on the celebrations . . . I could kill MTV for the 'sweet 16 show', its got a lot to answer for, even over here in the UK. Instead of flying over Justin Beiber and hiring The Savoy - then producing a brand new car or diamond encrusted blackberry as her 13th birthday gift . . . finally negociated to a village hall with a disco for 60-70 friends! (deep breath and start organising dj, food & invites).
This done and plans in full swing now its decision time for my celebrations . . .
My initial reaction was to be all grown up and organise a swish adult drinks in Mayfair, waited on with champagne and hor d'oeuvres and then I pinched myself - who was I trying to kid I'm not THAT old . . . I don't have to prove to anyone I'm a grown up . . . I've still got some life and energy left in this slightly older body . . . so I've found the perfect Tapa's bar in the middle of London, down a cobbled alley way - my main prority is getting all the people I love around me to share a few tapas and as much booze as my budget will handle! Want it to be a big night out . . . loud music and loads of mayhem - and celebrate with bang! Here's to the next chapter of my life.
Skirt out ;)

13 already? I didn't realize
13 already? I didn't realize she and Emma were the same age! Emma turns 13 in April. I was thinking a nice party for her and her friends, too, but this year she DOESN'T want a party! I am still shocked. (Oddly enough, my husband also turns 40 this year.)
Enjoy both birthdays, and I'm so glad to see you blogging again! :)
I wouldn't complain - I'm
I wouldn't complain - I'm seriously not looking forward to being responsible for so many teenagers for 3 hours!!! Luckily I've got some friends who have volunteered to help.
And it was down to you to kick me up the back side and return to Skirt - thanks for the email x
