"The Twin Crisis"

Tonight I went to a lecture “Challenging America: Achieving Sustainability and Justice through the Green Collar Economy” at Northern Arizona University (NAU). Part work, part personal interest I settled into a chair in the rear of the huge ballroom, DH snuggled next to me. It reminded me of the early days, going to classes together. All the college students and community members around filled the room with energy a hundred conversations going at once. I flicked on my ears and started to eves drop. Yes, I know it is (probably) impolite, but it is my favorite thing to do. To get little glimpses of others lives, of what is on their mind. Shortly the lecture started. Billy Parish and Van Jones the keynote speakers. The lecture left my head spinning and my heart racing I feel called to action, to leadership. How can I make some small difference in this world, how can you? Isn’t it small pieces that make something big work? We have to make a change, we have to transform our economy and our world or there will be nothing left of it. They both say it is a twin crisis, it is ecological and economical and both parts must be looked at to make a successful and sustainable change. They say we need to care about each other; we need to embrace innovation and enterprise. We have to work together and consolidate our efforts. We must lay aside political parties and realize this is an issue if you are from a red party, a blue party or a green party.

Call to action: What can you do? What do you do? Small or Big, share your ideas if you would about what you see are solutions for a more sustainable economy and ecology.

"The Twin Crisis"

Hi Elayna,I think it's

Hi Elayna,I think it's interesting that the economy is such a big factor in driving the green movement... and I think it will be one of the most successful , at least in the short term,  with the older generations (myself included). Money talks, and I hope the environment will benefit. How cool is that???

"The Twin Crisis"

you are right

Susan I think you are right! I think money is a way to make people take action. So while I am not sure I agree with the tactic it is effective!

"The Twin Crisis"

Yea... it is not "right", but

Yea... it is not "right", but sadly to say, that is the driving force in our capitalist society. :( I think the"younger"  generations are going to go for it for the  "right" reasons, though. They don't seem to question it! That is a GOOD thing!
