One Little Word

As we enter this transition time of one year giving way into another we are able to look back and look forward in this state of limbo. Uncertain what the new year may bring to us. It is a time of pause and reflection and often of goal setting/resolutions. I have always been into New Years Resolutions, I love chances to start a new. When I was younger and kept paper journals sporadically, I would often buy a new journal at any crossroads. So I ended up with a bunch of journals mostly empty with the first few pages filled with wonderful intentions. And that paints the picture of new years resolutions for most of us, it is a list we right of things we want to do, how we want to reform and by February we have forgotten.

Several years ago I was inspired by the amazing blogger, scrapper booker and inspirer Ali Edwards  with her one little word concept. The idea is to come up with one word that helps you to focus and define your year, something to strive for something to embrace. Rather then a long list of resolutions one word to live by. I am not giving up my long list of New Years resolutions for 2010 in part because this year I have a cool idea of spending January 1st making my list into a piece of art to hang in my studio (I will share that concept soon) but I am totally in love with the one word concept. This year mine is actually two words, they are derived from everything that seems to have calumniated together this past year. The mistakes and the joys that have gotten my husband to this place of right now. So my word(s) for 2010 are Fresh Start. It is everything I hope that 2010 will be. It is what I want to allow myself, the biggest gift I can give myself the opportunity to forgive myself the opportunity to move on to start a new.

Do you want to participate? Please leave your word of the year as a comment. I plan to revisit this word through out the year and I hope you visit yours too in your blogs in your lives and in your hearts. Join me in focusing 2010 on one word, your word, your life.

One Little Word

Turtle power

haha, well, we'll see.

My mom always used to say I was the rabbit in the tortoise and the hare fable.  Lots of get up and go - little follow through.  She always urged me to be like the turtle.  Maybe this year.
