~2009~ a year in review
By elaynaalexandra, Wednesday, December 23, 2009, 2 commentsThe year is now just days away from closing and I feel compelled to look over the year to take stock of what was and was not accomplished. As I prepare for the new year I teeter in limbo that is out of my control, yet I am confident that either way life tips it will be amazing, wonderful and filled with excitement.
~2009 a year in review~
January
I started the second quarter of grad school. Had my website built. And visited the Getty.
February
I struggled with learning tonot always speaking what is on my mind and finding balance in my life. I faced my most difficult grad school class. We took a Valentines day trip to Tucson.
March
I was invited to be one of the featured artists in a local evening of art and wine tasting. The citrus trees bloomed and the smell hung heavy and sweet in the air. We went to a Japanese festival in downtown Phoenix.
April
I signed up to be an artist at Zatista (I am still waiting for my first sale). It was my birthday. I got what I think was the swine flu and spent many days in bed.
May
I showed at Art First and won second prize in the Photography category. We went to New Jersey for the show. I started my grateful Sunday blogs. I was featured in the O&P magazine. I started working out with Jillian's 30-day shred (no I am not shredded, but I haven't been as good as I should either). Whew May was a busy month!
June
I started Yoga. I blogged about my guilt of not making art. I tried to make cold brewed coffee.
July
I ordered Moo cards. We celebrated 8 years of marriage. I got a new Camera. I curated and organized Interfaith Community Care's first gallery and gift shop opening.
August
I finished back to back graduate classes in financial math and accounting. I re-opened my Etsy shop. We visited my sister and her boys in Vermont.
September
Grad school classes started again. It was still hot in Phoenix. We went to the Grand Canyon. I made granola.
October
I lost my dog, my companion and a beloved friend unexpectedly. Life went a bit out of control
November
I wrote poetry. Struggled emotionally. Became obsessive compulsive trying to replace the whole that my dog left in my life. I started blogging for Skirt.
December
I am almost finished with grad school. I have a gallery show at a local gallery. Had some happy things happen. I saw snow. And there is still a list of things I want to get done before the end of the year.
What are your end of year traditions? What have you accomplished this year?

This was great! 2009 felt
This was great! 2009 felt like a blur and I'm sure there was much more I could have accomplished - but I still have a week and a half left! I think it's important to take stock and be honest with ourselves - without focusing on our shortcomings, but being honest about what we could have done better, then making a plan to be better. Thanks for sharing :)
A lot with a little
I love the way you reviewed an entire year with short snippets of events and emotions! I visited your Web site, too, and I have to say I am very impressed. Phenomenal art with such a thoughtful, spirit-filled statement holding it all up. You are inspring by being exactly who you are. I am glad you've recently joined Skirt (I am a newbie, too) and look forward to reading more of your posts. RollerWomyn (Robin L. Bernstein) Nobody Puts Robin in a Corner
