Much Ado About Nothing

Today is such a good day for me.  You know when all the planets seem to line up right?  Like that.  I have to park three blocks or so down from my job so it affords me the opportunity to walk.  The sun is out, birds are singing, flowers float listlessly off nearby trees.  I walk by the homeless man that I pass every morning and speak.  He looks like someone’s Uncle Mabry or something.  Why I thought of that name I don’t know.

I finally get to work and step into the elevator.  There’s only one other person inside.  Great.  I won’t have to stop on every floor.  We talk and laugh like old friends even though we’re strangers.  The door opens to my floor and I get off.  After a few minutes of unlocking, opening up, clicking on, and uploading I settle down and start to work.

A case manager comes up and gives me a peace offering.  Yesterday he blew up at me for no reason.  But later, he apologizes no less than 4 or 5 times. And today he gives me a fruit cup.  Aww…  By I’m finished with my work and am writing this blog.  You know how long it’s been since I had a free day at work???  By now, on a normal day, I would have been thrust headlong in telephone calls, arguing with co-workers, answering emails from my boss, and redirecting irate clients to their assigned case manager.

I know.  I’m not alone.  I know you know how it is.  Now, here’s to hoping the quiet continues to .  Wink.
