An 840,000 Refund
By Dita, Monday, April 13, 2009I want Josh Pastner’s job. Ok, I know most reading this will not know who in the world he is so I’ll explain. I love the
And for the following weeks after the announcement of his departure, the local news was all abuzz as to who’s got next. Oh, they name names from other top schools and everything. It goes on and on. People all over the mid-south are biting their nails and holding their breath.
Till last Monday. I was on my way home from work and I heard the announcer say that the next U of Um coach has been chosen. Drum roll please. Don’t blink. Steady yourself. Hold your breath. Count to ten! The new head coach is …Josh Pastner - the 31 year old assistant coach who served under the previous coach, John Calipari. He is to be paid 900,000.
Wha?
Karplunk.
Thud.
Wah-wah-waaaaah.
Plu-lease! Couldn’t U of M do better? My team is ranked one of the highest in the nation and they give me this? I put too much work in for this crap. Then I decided, in view of the harsh economic times, university coaches make too much money anyway. They would do better to dump most of the new Coach Pastner’s salary back into social security or the unemployment fund to assist those struggling. A piece of a coach only warrants a piece of a salary anyway. Say about 60,000. Impress me next year with a spot on the final four and then get your money back. An 840,000 refund.
