Mini Vacation
By compassionate heart, Tuesday, October 27, 2009Well, I was able to get away for a long weekend and take a little bit of a break from the stressful work that I do. It was so relaxing to be in the mountains and breathe in all the fresh air. My partner and I were able to take long hikes with our husky, Nico, and just forget about the stresses of everyday life. We hung out in our cabin and were able to see a multitude of stars from our hot tub during our first night there. It was perfect! I always talk to others about self-care and really do try to practice it regularly however it is sometimes hard to just get away, especially when you work for a twenty four hour agency and when your work never ends. I was able to drink coffee on our deck overseeing the mountain scenery. Now whenever I do need a quick escape from work, I plan on just taking a few minutes to take some deep breathes and visualize this peaceful place in my mind. It really helps me relax especially when I am in the midst of a busy day. I try to also take those moments whenever possible, like when I am in line at the grocery store or waiting for something or someone. All it takes is a few minutes, some deep breathes and happy thougths to get me focused and ready for the next thing on my list.
